Recognising the Design Elements though still-life drawing.

Recognising the Design Elements though still-life drawing.

First, we were asked in this assessment to create a frame out of thick card, using the silhouette machine I cut out a perfect rectangle,
Then I had to find some elements to draw in my journal (Ipad + I pencil)
Looking around my desk I found a few odd items and added them to their own area,
Using the made frame to focus on the objects within, was easier than normal, I found myself looking within the frame and only seeing the items closest to it.
Tho the frame wouldn't stand alone I used a few items from the kitchen, kabab sticks to help hold it up so I could have my hands free to hold my iPad and pencil.

The frame cuts out the vision of other items around the frame making your mind see it as a photo frame, causing you to focus on only the objects within,
I noticed that I could see the items in the background but was less interested in them being the items in front my mind would focus on more.

Scan A Story

Scan A Story

For this activity we have to add nine items into our scanners and tell a story.
Learning how to use photoshop along with my scanner was another new area for me and definitely learn my printer is best made for my stickers rather than scanning images.

Items in image:
Bubble Gum Stickers business card,
Erin Condren Life Planner,
Weekly layout of planner stickers created by Bubble Gum Stickers,
Bobble head princess bubblegum,
Hand drawn planner shop stickers,
Mailer with Please... do not bend!
Plastic Celo Bag,
Silhouette cutting blade,
My fav pink pen for ticking off orders,
and Cutting mat laid on top (super hard to see a see through mat).

Each item is something that either help create or make the stickers you see in Bubble Gum Stickers.

Black Sqaures

Black Squares Part A

Using simple shapes and space to communicate and convey the meaning of words:

Black squares Part B

Order

I chose this because the layered squares of the page give the order to the story it telling.
Give an order to the layout.

Increase

I choose this because seeing this the first thing to draw you in are the large feet needing to follow from increase to decrease.

Bold

I chose this image because the striking bold black page pulled you in near hit you in the face making you take a look at the images within the bold capital text layout.

Congested

I chose this images because there are so many triangles on the page it hard to know what one to look at making the layout of the page seem congested, over loaded.

Tension

I chose this image because the straight lines are so tight together pulling in to the text and almost squishing the text within.

Playful

I chose this image because it is visually exciting with all the colour playing with each other, the twists and turns make this visually playful.

Typographic Portraits

Typographic Portraits (My name is....)

The task of our first design assessment was to use our name and try to creatively render our names in into each nameplate.
Thinking about style, weight, size, letter-spacing and case of the letter characters.

My name is  _  and I am a chameleon.
My name is _ and I have the hiccups.
My name is _ and I am a gender illusionist.
My name is _ and I am a truck driver.
My name is _ and I have a headache.
My name is _ and I am a _ [make up your own]

So much fun, and plenty of laughs.
This was a great way to test your imagination.
